Discernment and Decision-Making

TESTIMONAL

On behalf of the Board, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for the way you led us through our time of spiritual discernment at yesterday’s retreat.

Your gentle yet purposeful facilitation created the space we needed to pause, listen, and open our hearts to God’s leading. You set the tone beautifully from the beginning, guiding us all into a posture of prayerful reflection that prepared us for the broader conversations around the future of our ministry.

Your insight and presence were a gift to us. You helped us to go deeper, to listen more attentively, and to discern not just with our minds, but with our spirits—aligning our plans with God’s greater purpose.

Thank you for partnering with us in such a meaningful way. We are deeply grateful for your role in shaping this significant moment in our journey.

Making decisions is one of the most important parts of life and leadership. We make countless choices every day—each one shaping us personally and influencing those we lead and serve. Yet we rarely pause to reflect on how we make those decisions, often relying on habit or routine methods.
In a Christian context, learning to listen to the movement of the Spirit and discern God’s leading is a sacred and learnable skill. I have had the privilege of working with not-for-profit boards and senior church leadership teams to explore what it means to make decisions from a place of spiritual discernment rather than rote practice or pressure.
Discernment workshops can be tailored to meet your team’s specific needs and typically run for at least four hours. If your group is navigating a significant decision, you may wish to consider a full-day or multi-day retreat experience to journey more deeply through an intentional discernment process.
